About this Course

This course focuses on basic English grammar skills for beginning English learners. Topics covered include articles, present progressive, and possessive forms.

Learning modules

  • Week 1
    • Review Weekly Goal: Noncount and Count nouns/Measurement Words; Chart Present Progressive Verb Tense

    • Review Google Doc; Create 5 sentences in notebook re: Count with Measurement Word

    • Count and Noncount Nouns review packet pp. 101-108 (Azar Workbook 4th ed. Vol. A) Through Ex. 10

    • Learn Count/NonCount Noun through cooking video (link attached) and exercise completion through 10.

    • Short Quiz - A/An/Some (Count/Noncount) Exercises 11, 12, and 13

    • Produce measurement words within simple sentences (some, a little, much, many, and a lot of).

  • Week 2
    • Complete Practice 4.5 (package) with correct forms of verbs in box (see below)

    • Using Present Progressive Chart 4-1 and Exercises (see below) 4-2(4-spelling rules)

    • Study Guide Parts A & B (Count/Non Count); produce appropriate articles and measurement words (some, a little, much, many, and a lot of)

    • Chart 4-3 Present Progressive Negatives and Chart 4-4 Present Progressive Questions

    • Partner dialogs using pictures to describe it with the correct present progressive verb P, 97 AZAR text

    • Practice 10 Using the verb *to work, complete 5 statements and 5 Negative form sentences.

    • Study Guide Parts C and D Produce sentences and respond to questions with present progressive verbs.

    • review videos (#1, #2, and #3) others attached for practice producing sentences using possessive adjectives

    • Possessive Adjectives review video and create 6 sentences for the possessive adjectives listed.

    • Study Guide Part E Identify and produce possessive adjectives within a sentence (5 sentences)

    • Class Review: Create sentences A/An/Some (Count/Noncount)

  • Week 3
    • Create sentences and charts using possessive adjective correctly.

    • Class/Partners Practice Identifying Possessive Adjectives in Sentences, creating 4 sentences per pair.

    • Classwork and partner/board : Past and Past Progressive Tense

    • Intro to simple past and past progressive video attached (Review for homework)

    • Quiz Simple Past/Past Progressive

    • Study Guide Part F Identify simple past and past progressive verbs in affirmative and negative statements and questions.

  • Week 4
    • Review Day 1 of 2 (3-objectives below)

    • Sentence Correction from Parts A-B-C and Create sentences for each objective (5)

    • Review Day 2 of 2 (2-objectives below)

    • Sentence corrections for Parts D-E; Study both STUDY GUIDES for Final

    • Weak Areas Targeted: Study Guide Summary-Completion of Summary Study Guide/Complete with notes
