About this Course

This course focuses on basic English communication skills for high-intermediate/low-advanced English learners. Topics covered include formal presentations and the production of complete sentences with target phrasal verbs.

  • Week 1
    • Weekly Discussion Objectives and Goals; Daily Vocabulary; other Updates; Impromptu Speech Prep

    • Notetaking activity: Analyze the Source: Preview "Three anti-social skills to improve your writing" (TED Talk); review Google Doc 04/25

    • HOMEWORK: DISCUSSION QUESTIONS STUDENTS A OR B (5 QUESTIONS AND 5 ANSWERS); be prepared to share

    • Day 1 "Meet and Greet" Assignment (Location: Lou's Place) submit worksheet/paper from 04/25 - for grade

  • Week 2
    • Class Discussion: Weekly goals; Positive Adjectives in complete sentences (by day); Speaking Assignments in Groups/Holidays; 30-day challenge info exchange and leaders

    • Weekly Vocabulary/Notebook Grade

    • Reviewing Questions-video attached; PDF; Synonyms

    • Ask a Texas Wesleyan student or employee 3 questions about holidays. Sample script below.
