About this Course

This course provides students with an opportunity to develop listening and speaking skills, enhance structural accuracy, and foster an expansion of everyday English communication skills. Modules 4-6a through 4-6c of this program will help students to interact with audio and/or video clip content in various ways and recognize and practice English collocations. Students will also track new vocabulary from the course and deliver presentations.

  • Week 1
    • Collocations: Basic

    • Write 5 sentences using collocations

    • Collocations: Money

    • Quiz on Collocations

  • Week 2
    • Discussion: Collocations: Have/Make/Do/; Notebook Grades for Positive Adjective and Homework Assignments

    • Review attached video quiz: Collocations: Do/Make/Have. ***Notebook GRADE*** 10 correct sentences from video

    • Collocation Song "To Have"

    • Collocations Video for Review (Do and Make)

    • Collocations: Role Play and Quiz (review Google Doc)

    • Line up/Partner Share; Interview Preferences Food and Drink/Impromptu intro of partner's preferences

  • Week 3
    • Collocations with HAVE link attached *****NOTEBOOK GRADE****10 sentences

    • Choose 10 collocations using "Have" and create your own sentence or copy the completed sentence from link (attached)

    • Expressing opinions, likes, and dislikes (dialogs and vocabulary)

    • NOTEBOOK GRADE FROM WEEK 2 DUE: WED. 06/O8

  • Week 4
    • Describing People/Places and Things (vocabulary, slang, and idioms);Notebook Grade

    • Ask 2 people Preferences (If haven't completed) and another person to describe his/her best friend

    • Summary of Interviews (3) Wesleyan Students/Employees; Neighbors or Office Workers; TLC Student or Community Member
