IDL AE Listening/Speaking: Module 1

About this Course

This course focuses on advanced English skills for advanced English learners.

Per instructor guidelines, students will:

  • Maintain a vocabulary notebook including parts of speech, word forms, and example sentences
  • Learn at least 50 of the 100 IELTS Academic Wordlist (List 1) terms
  • Read academic journal articles, news articles, and/or case studies and produce summaries
  • Produce an in-depth, researched writing project
  • Deliver a presentation with visual support and source content while adhering to academic integrity norms
  • Deliver impromptu responses to open-ended questions without much obvious searching for expressions
  • Produce a summary and analysis of at least one (1) TED Talk
  • Integrate advanced grammar accurately into written and verbal production, requiring correction only rarely
