About this Course

This course focuses on basic English grammar skills for beginning English learners. Topics covered include articles, present progressive, and possessive forms.

  • WEEK 1
    • Review of Chart 7.1 (Count/Non-Count Nouns) and practice with singular/plural count/NC

    • review Count/Noncount Nouns Practice 4, 5, 6

    • Noun Review (link attached classwork 6/22-23

    • Identify the noun and either count or noncount p.192, ex. 2 Azar Basic (Red)

    • Review count/noncount and identifying nouns

    • Using a/an after review of 4 rules chart 7.2)

    • Count/Noncount nouns identify 4; plural rules (6) p. 170 AND review of 174 irregular plural forms

  • WEEK 2
    • Review of Count/NonCount Nouns; Plurals (regular and irregular nouns) a/an;

    • Produce sentences and respond to questions with present progressive verbs.

    • Produce measurement words within simple sentences (some, a little, much, many, and a lot of).

    • 5 sentences using past progressive tense: see prompts

    • Creating sentences and answering Positive/Negative questions using PRESENT PROGRESSIVE VERBS

  • WEEK 3
    • Spelling present progressive (ing) 4 spelling rules (p. 104)

    • Review Present Progressive sentences to create narrative/short story for 07/12

    • Create Sentences with Present Progressive Verbs/change verbs to Past Progressive Verbs (Yesterday,...))

    • Simple Present and Present Progressive Verb Review

    • Top Notch Comedy series: What are they doing?

  • WEEK 4
    • Mastery Demonstration of Objectives (link attached)

    • Present a short story/narrative using present progressive verbs. Mr. and Mrs. Lind

    • Possessive Adjectives and Pronouns (review) and create sentences Review Chart 6-7 p.178

    • Identify possessive adjectives and create 12 sentences: 2 each using (my, your, his, her, our, their)

    • Complete Worksheet Count/Non-Count nouns sent via email 07/12 (see link below)
